A considerable volume that describes a very short career indeed. The excellent B&W photographs by the late Linda McCartney accompany some great scenario building. McDermott and Kramer have kept the story simple, though imaginative, and did it with dignity. It was important for them, but equally as much to any fan of the legend. Kramer's input was worth waiting for - the man who made it sound like it id on vinyl. Hendrix's legacy still grows strong in a plastic world - his guitar feedbacks into eternity.

As an avid fan of Hendrix, both the man and his music, I was intrigued to find out more about his life. This book helped me to do that perfectly. It is tastefully written and never falls back onto rock cliches. Some of the anecdotes had me laughing out loud. From his humble beginnings to his untimely end, this book provides a near perfect tribute to such a troubled genius. A must have for anyone interested in the man or the period.
